MOTHERS UNION |
Mothers Union Prayer Loving Lord We thank you for your love so freely given to us all. We pray for families around the world. Bless the work of the Mothers' Union as we seek to share your love through the encouragement, strengthening and support of marriage and family life. Empowered by your Spirit, may we be united in prayer and worship, and in love and service reach out as your hands across the world. In Jesus' name. Amen |
We were asked if you could join Mothers Union if you were not a Mother and of course you can. We are also welcoming men nowadays as M.U. does try to keep up with the times.
10th January 2012 was the date for our Annual General Meeting. After Corporate Communion we moved into the Church Lounge where the Rector chaired the Meeting. We had invited our Arch-Deaconry Chairman, Iris Parker, to join us as it is going to be a year of change. We have been running the Branch for three years as a Committee. Joan had been Secretary but had decided not to stand again as had Committee Member, Betty Raymond. Kay Wilson was elected as Enrolling Member and as no-one volunteered to become Secretary was willing to combine the two roles. Jacky was happy to remain as Treasurer for one year and Jean Steele promised to shadow her and become Treasurer next year. Barbara Bailey was again elected on the Committee and Barbara Beilby volunteered to join also.
Charles thanked Joan for her work as Secretary as well as the contribution made by Betty. They were both presented with presents as a thank-you gift.
Next month on 14th February we shall be back in the Hall and expecting several members of the Wimborne Deanery. Bridget Trump, former M.U. President of the Salisbury Diocese, will be talking to us. She is now is a member of the Sudan Committee and has been to the Sudan so has first hand knowledge of the area.
Looking ahead to March, we are expecting a visit from Di Pestell to tell us about the work done by the Women's Refuge in Salisbury. We have arranged a very interesting programme for the year so watch this space.
