Babes and Toddlers
Babes and Toddlers meets in St.Mark's Hall on Tuesday mornings between 9.30 and 11.30 during school terms. Established as long ago as 1980 as an independent group that hired the Church Hall it has for several years been supported and led by the Church. Liz Booth (tel: 873561) is the current leader.
The sessions are informal, the only regular structured activity being the songs, actions and rhymes which the Rector leads at the end of most meetings. The play facilities include mats, slide, trampoline, play house, pedal cars, tractors, trikes, and wooden railway. For babies there is a carpeted area with mobiles and toys that stimulate the youngest children. Most of our regulars are mums, but we do welcome dads, grandparents and childminders too. Adults are expected to keep a supervisory eye on the children in their charge but amongst the adults the atmosphere is one of relaxed conviviality. Coffee, biscuits and juice are served by members of the church.
The hall is a clean and safe environment for childrens' play and there are good toilet and changing facilities. We ask people to make a contribution of 0.50p per session after which refreshments are free. We currently have 26 mums on our books, though not all will attend each week. Newcomers are always welcome.
