Presentation of the Financial Statements for the year ended 31 December
2004 Mrs. Moyse, the Treasurer, drew attention to the Summary of the
Financial Activities detailed in the Notes to the Accounts and the Balance sheet
which show that Total Incoming Resources amounted to 61,765. While
Total Resources Used amounted to 70,951. This resulted in a net Outflow
of 8,604 from our funds at the end of the year. However, it should be borne in
mind that we incurred certain extraordinary expenses which were met from our
Capital Resources viz 15,000 to Turbary Church from the Dearle Charitable
Bequest, and an increase in our Charitable Giving to 4,000 for International,
National and Local causes. In the event, these costs were reduced by the sale
of two Trust Funds and increased Interest received from our investments, and by
savings in the Maintenance and Repairs/Renewal costs. During 2005 our Fairer
Share commitment has been increased by 8,809 to 44,044 and there will be
increased statutory costs for remedial alterations arising from the Disability
Discrimination Act 1995 which are likely to require funding from Reserves.

Presentation of the Annual Report 2004 The Rector stated that the Annual
Report is an excellent example of all that is undertaken in God's service and
for one another and expressed his personal gratitude, as well as on behalf of
all, for this. What has been achieved for the benefit of the Parish is
testimony to a living faith. In his input to the Report he has outlined the
achievements as well as the challenges, both spiritual and practical. In May
2004 he asked the PCC to give thought to the question What would you like to
see happen in this church in the next twelve months?. This has occupied a
good deal of the PCC's time and has led to the agreement that our purpose is to
assess the sufficiency of St Mark's as a forum for Christian worship which both
nourishes the existing community and extends God's gracious invitation to
others. The first of the three Presentations by Revd. Terry Knight this evening
is a further step to establish the way forward, and also to open participation
to a wider audience than just the PCC in this very important matter.
Fund RaisingIn an attempt to defray the cost of the alterations required
by the Disability Discrimination Act, Mr Paget outlined his suggestion that one
way could be for people interested to take one of the envelopes in which £5 has
been placed, with the aim of returning them in six months having raised the
amount to £55. The envelopes were available for collection at the meeting.
Presentation by the RevD Knight "Like Topsy it just Growed"Introducing
the speaker, the Rector commented that Terry Knight has great experience in this
field as Chair of the DAC and who specialises in Worship matters. Prior to this
meeting he had visited both Churches to assess the position for himself.
Revd. Knight opened by remarking that when visiting St. Mark's he had felt very
comfortable to be in a sacred place. The building is spacious and light and
has not been altered since it was built, as has All Saints over the centuries.
In the early years there were no Christian churches per se. They first appeared
in the reign of Emperor Constantine and then they just growed. Western
Churches have since evolved over many centuries the building changing with the
times and the fashions of society as well as for political and liturgical
requirements. As a nation we tend to be suspicious of change once we have
become familiar and secure with our surroundings yet, as individuals, we all
evolve and change in our journey in faith. In his second presentation, on the
3rd May, he will speak about Worship and how it relates to St Mark's building.
In closing the Rector expressed the meeting's appreciation for the
presentation
Any Other BusinessThe PCC have suggested that the APCM perhaps be held
on an alternative date and time such as a Sunday after the 9.45 am Service,
followed by lunch. Views on this to the Rector/Churchwardens welcomed.
There being no Other Business, the APCM closed with The Grace
