WEST PARLEY WI

We were delighted to welcome several visitors including a few of Ferndown's old members, some of whom have already joined us. A pleasant surprise was the lovely flower arrangements by Cynthia Smith from the donation by Betty Daw, as thanks for her recovery and all the good wishes received during her long illness.
After an early tea during which we had time to catch up with old and new friends, we got down to the business of the Annual General Meeting. Finances, Auditor, and Statements agreed and approved, as were the Annual Report and President's address. In the latter Meryl gave thanks to everyone with special mention to Val King, who with her partner had given us an excellent programme of Speakers throughout the year. With one new member to replace Jean Baker, who sadly has retired due to increasing health problems, the Committee were elected en bloc. (There being no other nominees) A unanimous vote elected Meryl Stansbury to continue as President for a second year.
The May meeting promises to be very colourful as the Speaker will talk about the Chelsea Flower Show. All are welcome, at 2.15pm on Thursday May 8th, at West Parley Memorial Hall.
